Do wigs damage natural hair?

To know if wearing wigs damages your hair, you need to consider their application, maintenance and, especially, removal .
As long as you get a wig that fits well, follow the correct care instructions and take care of your own hair, wigs will not cause your precious hair to fall out! A common myth is that wigs can cause hair loss. But NO !
To answer the question : No, it is not the wig itself that damages your natural hair, but rather the removal methods and treatments involved with it (maintenance).
Many people have a negative connotation about wearing wigs, due to their own bad experience, or that of others, but it has come to be discovered that those who have suffered this type of damage, did not go through correct application or removal methods.
To ensure you preserve your precious hair when wearing a wig, you will need to:
- Make sure the perimeter area of your baby hairs are pulled back tightly.
- Make sure the glue you use has its own remover .
- Make sure the wig is applied properly (by someone experienced or following a video tutorial).
- Avoid using too much glue and wear a wig cap (although this is not always mandatory).
- Don't neglect the care of your natural hair . Even if it isn't exposed, it still needs to be properly cared for.
- Dry your natural hair properly , as moisture under the wig can cause bacteria growth and problems around the hairline.
- Do not pull off the wig. Remove it carefully and properly.
